Itaprog Classics: the ’70s

- Site History -

6/29/2001 – Proto-site online, site content later gradually restricted to Itaprog.

10/29/2002 – Message from Vincenzo Massetti living in Thailand – used to be lead singer with I Teoremi using the name of Lord Enzo – said the record company should never have changed his name – attached some scans including group photo from inside the original LP cover. Good on you, Vincenzo, that Teoremi album was fit to be included!

12/15/2002 – Official day of inauguration: 12 pages with 5 reviews per page, new front page based on presentation packet of Caffarel chocolates.

10/30/2003 – Invitation from Guilherme to contribute top 20 Itaprog pick-list at his site, along with picks by other webmasters – a pity that Brazilian site went under – for what it’s worth my top 20 are now found here, but remember, opinions differ widely & few top 20 lists include my entire top 5.

12/6/2003 – First site overhaul, with Pooh getting bumped by Jacula, no great loss there.

7/8/2004 – Detailed commentary received from Piero – incorporated his suggestions in the write-ups, but could not find time to publish.

1/3/2005 – Invited by Prog Archives to join up with them as Special Collaborator – an attractive offer, but regretfully I had to decline in order to preserve the integrity of these pages.

6/2/2006 – Second site overhaul, with Alice getting bumped by Fabrizio De Andre, no great loss there either, since Alice was mainly an ’80s phenomenon. Belated thanks to Piero – his suggestions regarding the site are now fully incorporated.

12/29/2006 – Separate section for visitor comments.

1/29/2007 – Inauguration of ‘Best of the Rest’ section. Looks like this may take quite a while to complete, but pages for west coast music and British rock rarities are up.

8/20/2008 – Linkage to Enlaplage Research Themes, private sector web publishing company.

12/3/2014 – Revised page hierarchy: Itaprog Classics ordered under Popular category. Visitor section closed.

“.....thank you for your Itaprog web pages, which I discovered several years ago. Your interesting and witty reviews have enabled me to reach out beyond the better known Italian progressive groups (e.g., Banco, PFM) and discover some true gems, like Maxophone, Alphataurus, Alusa Fallax, and others. Your work is much appreciated. I'm pleased to see the pages survive the transition.....” – from Masked Marauder, VA, July 2006. – Webmaster: “Hey, thanks for the feedback!! Really, those you note are among the classiest or deepest I can think of. Otherwise you wouldn’t mention ’em, right?”
